Cho Yeji is an artist who questions the value of trust assigned to language as a social capital. With the interest in the relationship between language, the mind, and the world, she is focused on the subjectivity, and implies the limitations of language and creates her own substance, re-locating beings that are misplaced within names.
She has mainly worked on installation and algorithm-based generative art, and has expanded to convey her theme through visual languages such as painting, photography, time-based media, installations with or without technology, as well as physical computing and visual programming languages; in 2021, she presented 'minor,' and explored the unconscious exhibited at CosMo40, 'Connection: Visible Traces,' exploring notions of reference in perception at Seoul Arts Center, and participated in the 2022 group exhibition at Sewoon Hall, presenting a sound installation about language.
She is part of the collective TAKA with artists Ko Hui and Cho Hyun-seo, while also managing a space called SAKA. We aim to share experiences through various events, such as listening sessions, workshops, and performances.
